BCE Emergis and e-Net OME Internet Mortgage Origination Solution for Lenders' Web Sites >a dozen posts in one day, whats going on here!! not sure why this is issued today, we knew this before.< Wednesday March 24, 1:25 pm Eastern Time Company Press Release BCE Emergis and e-Net OME Internet Mortgage Origination Solution for Lenders' Web Sites Lenders can quickly originate and process mortgages on their own web sites via Freddie Mac's GoldWorks(R) Network MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 24, 1999-- BCE Emergis (TSE:IFM - news; ME:IFM - news) announced today that it is launching, in partnership with e-Net, a mortgage software company, its single-lender Internet-based mortgage origination system at this week's Annual National Technology in Mortgage Banking Conference in Chicago. With Online Mortgage Explorer (OME), financial services companies can now quickly and cost-effectively offer consumers the ability to apply online directly on a lender's own Web site and receive the information via Freddie Mac's GoldWorks® electronic network. ''Following the January release of the multi-lender version of OME in the US, this single-lender offering is the ideal solution for financial institutions who recognize the market potential of the Internet but may not have had the financial and technology resources to initiate and maintain an online mortgage service,'' said Robert Habert, vice president and general manager of Mortgage Services at BCE Emergis. ''With the easy integration of the OME product into a lender's Web site, no doubt we will see online mortgages become a standard offering.'' ''BCE Emergis' OME, through GoldWorks® will enable lenders, to serve the mortgage consumer via their own Web site,'' said Griff Straw, Freddie Mac's director of GoldWorks® Marketing. ''Lenders will be able to inexpensively market their loan products and solicit applications from consumers in market segments that were previously not easily or affordably reached.'' ''We're proud to team up with BCE Emergis and Freddie Mac to provide the technology that will proliferate online mortgage lending and borrowing,'' said Jason Smith, vice-president of Mortgage Services for e-Net. ''With our technology, we now make it possible for all financial companies to offer online mortgage services.'' OME, developed by e-Net and distributed by BCE Emergis, is the electronic business technology that offers consumers access to a financial institution's online mortgage origination site in a secure, encrypted environment. BCE Emergis is bringing this powerful environment to lenders interested in capitalizing on the explosive e-commerce and Internet transactional business. The system allows for a faster and more cost-effective way to conduct business and exchange information between the lender community and the consumer. In January 1999, BCE Emergis launched OME's US multi-lender Web site www.multilenders.com offering American consumers online mortgage access to multiple lenders. The Canadian site was launched by e-Net in 1996 www.themortgage.com. Financial institutions can now offer the consumer a one-stop shopping experience for their mortgage transaction. Borrowers can review the bank's product offerings and loan terms while using the built-in calculators to assess their monthly payments and amortization period. The borrower completes and submits the loan application online through OME. In turn, the lender receives the loan through the GoldWorks link, evaluates the application, and contacts the borrower with a decision by email or off-line. The borrower and lender can then make arrangements to gather the required documentation. The lender maintains complete control over how loan files are processed. Freddie Mac is a stockholder-owned corporation chartered by Congress in 1970 to create a continuous flow of funds to mortgage lenders. By supplying lenders with the money to make mortgages and packaging the mortgages into marketable securities, Freddie Mac sustains a stable mortgage credit system and reduces the mortgage rates paid by homebuyers. Over the years, Freddie Mac has opened doors for one in six homebuyers in America and two million renters. e-Net is a technology-based company that fosters e-business partnerships that enable the delivery of Internet-based financial services through intermediaries (brokers, agents, planners, etc.) and directly to the consumer. e-Net developed Online Mortgage Explorer (OME), North America's first and largest multi-lender online mortgage origination network. BCE Emergis delivers network-centric e-commerce solutions that improve customer processes through the exchange of secure transactions.
