SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Intel Corp. has made an investment of undisclosed size in BroadLogic Inc. (Milpitas, Calif.), a company formed to provide satellite-based and other broadband communication directly to PCs.

Intel's investment will fund BroadLogic's continuing work to develop add-on cards and chips capable of decoding digital broadcast satellite and other broadband technologies, said a spokesman for Intel (Santa Clara, Calif.). BroadLogic was formerly the Satellite Networking Group of Adaptec Inc. before it was spun off as a separate company last September.

BroadLogic has also secured $7 million in venture capital from August Capital and the Walden International Investment Group, and has formed a partnership with Loral Space & Communications' CyberStar involving 2.5-Mbit/second connections to the Internet.
