FINALLY AN END TO THE ROADRUNNER RUMORS.......

At Home and RoadRunner stay separate, for now-CNBC
NEW YORK, March 24 (Reuters) - Time Warner Inc.'s (NYSE:TWX - news) top executive on Wednesday said there are no talks regarding a widely speculated combination of RoadRunner, its high-speed Internet access venture, and rival At Home Corp. (Nasdaq:ATHM - news).

In an interview on CNBC, the cable television channel, Time Warner chairman and chief executive Gerald Levin said he believes it is probably healthier for the two to continue their separate development than to combine right now.

''I'm not saying one way or the other...there are no discussions, nothing that I can foresee,'' Levin said. ''I'm much more interested, frankly, in the roll-out of cable modems and high-speed digital services,'' through the development of the two separate structures.

''RoadRunner has its own business plan, as At Home does,'' Levin said. ''That's probably healthy at this stage in our development.''

At Home and RoadRunner, which provide high-speed Internet access through cable television lines, have been seen as likely merger partners for more than a year.

Since some of their main investors have been partnering and blurring the lines of separation, it becomes more likely that the competing Internet services will merge, analysts said.

At Home, while publicly-traded, is mostly owned by AT&T Corp. (NYSE:T - news), Comcast (Nasdaq:CMCSA - news), Cox Communications Inc. (NYSE:COX - news), Cablevision Systems Corp. (AMEX:CVC - news) and others.

RoadRunner is a joint venture of Time Warner, MediaOne Group Inc. (NYSE:UMG - news), Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:MSFT - news), Compaq Computers Corp. (NYSE:CPQ - news) and closely-held publishing company Advance/Newhouse.

When AT&T forged a joint venture with Time Warner in February, the two companies discussed merging At Home and RoadRunner but couldn't agree on a price, a source familiar with the situation said at that time.

Now that Comcast, an At Home shareholder, has agreed to buy MediaOne, a RoadRunner shareholder, the discussions to combine the two are expected to be revisited, sources familiar with the situation said Tuesday.
