Im long as stated before as I learned my lesson the hard way! Back several years ago when I had EMC stock along with some others as it looked somewhat promising as does MTIC now I got frustrated as they were going no where and the Giants DEC, IBM, and others were looking much better (even STK before their big dive and comeback). I got frustrated and pulled out and instead of sticking it out and in hind site, EMC had a lot less going for it then do MTIC now. What did the lesson cost me? Well lets just say about 200 shares at about $18 before a couple of splits. I agree, MTIC has been a dog of late however this dog is starting to wimper and bark and so what if they are giving away equipment to compete, do you really honestly believe that EMC is not giving away equipment now to save face and win deals against MTIC, BXH, STK, DGN, DELL, HWP (Non EMC storage like their DGN and AUTORAID), HDS, and the list goes on. Thank goodness (I still trade on the cycles EMC on ocassion) that EMC margins are what they are and they have a little lead with some of their features as it is only time before they will have to give those away as well. If giving away equipment to gain market share works and gets exposure, great as it worked for EMC. BTW - Did you read and analyze the EMC/IBM deal, EMC will be 2nd sourcing disks from IBM on a larger scale than they have in the past. EMC/IBM will also share patents (read the find print in your MTIC annual report as there could be some revenue comming to cover the cost of giving away equipment to gain exposure;). What this means is that EMC will now buy more disks from IBM, they will preasure Seagate even more for better pricing and maybe seagate will be more anxious to give good pricing to MTIC and others which means better margins on the giveaways. The deal also involves IBM selling more chips and components to EMC perhaps like PowerPC chips that are similar to the Motorola chips they already use as welll as perhaps as memory chips for their cache. Anyone know who EMC buys memory chips from now? I like what Girstner is doing with IBM in that he is turning his R & D/Patents into profits by selling it to the market rather than keeping it for themselves. Intersting about the drives, I would say that this signals that IBMs own internal consumption of their propritary or should I say, not widley accepted outside of the IBM world except for a couple of resellers (Sorry Mr. Lethe) and the fact that IBM has teamed up with WD to increase production signals IBM wants to become more of a supplier and service provider? It is not a bad model, look around at a little company and neighbor or IBM from NY called GE! Anyway enough rambling for now, go MTIC and go IBM and GO GO GO EMC (Hey, the better they do, the more MTIC gets in roylaties) and perhaps I can make some money to get a spell checker). Nick
