scum bria - Re: "Intel played an awful lot of trump cards to knock AMD down this past couple of months. How many more do they hold?"

Intel seems to keep making new trump cards all the time - and they are making them faster than AMD can bring new chips to market.

Scumbria,

<Intel played an awful lot of trump cards to knock AMD down this past couple of months.>

Wrong. AMD knocked themselves down by attempting to execute an inherently flawed strategy. But if it makes you feel better, keep blaming Intel.

I am looking for straws in the wind, that may not really be there, but I consider it to both interesting and possibly very significant that the second earnings warning from AMD was apparently authored by Atiq Raza. What we need is a pattern of consistent understatement of the good and emphasis of the potential future downside. Raza is very new to this but he is being obviously groomed for Jerry's job. Deriving from his release there have been a number of severe downgrades in earnings projections by several of the analysts that may well be justified by AMD's past record. The key will be how much of the loss will be operating losses. The one time items (which are likely to be substantial) will actually be a very good thing to get out of the way in the first quarter clearing the path for a much better looking year if they are able to make it happen. One release does not a pattern make, but, it can be a very auspicious start. I hope that he participates in the conference call after the earning release, but I do not consider that to be crucial. We need Jerry out of the "limelight" that he so religiously pursues and obviously enjoys to the demonstrable detriment of the stock and best interests of the company.

This is all almost pure speculation...ANY THOUGHTS???

Regards,

DARBES
