Susie, all I can tell you is to start back in December and read forwards. There is a lot of wild speculation, off topic discussion, etc. mixed in with some tremendous knowledge. Investing in AXC could be rewarding, but it is not for the meek of heart. I am lucky in that I bought in at just over 1 back in December, but there are many here who have owned the stock for a wild ride to 15 and back to 1, then to almost 6, and back to here.

To me, Ampex represents several different plays. Interestingly all of them are in exceptionally high growth areas:

1. They have the ultimate in high-speed, high density tape backup. This has not taken off because it is an expensive solution, and lower density solutions have thus far been adequate, and because the DST drive is not well known. However the recent purchase by Coach (who may have made your purse) is evidence that the DST could be moving mainstream soon. In addition it is the ultimate solution for near-line storage of video.

2. AXC is an HDTV play. As TV goes digital, they need Ampex editing and compression technology (or so I'm given to believe), and they need the storage capacity of the DST drive.

3. They are a play in SANs/NASs/RAIDs through there recent purchase of Micronet.

4. They are a long term play on the future of magnetic storage due to their extensive patent portfolio, especially including Keepered Media, which is related to preventing certain problems that occur when you try to store data too close together on a tape or disk. Disks are approaching the theoretical limits on their density rapidly, and the AXC KM technology may yet be of value. Again, it has not come into use yet due to it being a solution that is too expensive today, and not yet essential.

5. They are involved in web hosting through a recent acquisition.

6. They are getting heavily involved in web broadcasting and production through their recent purchases of up to a 50% interest in TV-on-the-Web and AENTV.

Putting together all the recent acquisitions you get a consistent picture of a man with a vision. The vision is one of producing content, hosting/delivering content, and storing content. Myself, I think that they will succeed, and my shares are not for sale, but each person must make their own decision. And as I said, AXC is not for the meek. Owning AXC builds character. <VBG> And someday, I believe it will build a few other things as well, such as wealth.

Greetings from you neighbor to the north in Nebraska,

Carl
