Perhaps, and I agree that letting things get to this point is unconscionable. But if the Russians can be kept out, and I believe that they will respond feebly, than the Serbs cannot hope to stand against NATO. Hitler could plausibly advance across the continent. He made two big mistakes: opening the second front, and declaring war on the United States. Had the war in Europe gone on much longer with a complaisant Soviet Union and an isolationist America, he could have broken British resistance and established hegemony through out the continent, saving the fight with Russia for another day. Milosevic is nowhere near as strong,and NATO is nowhere near as unprepared as the British and French had been.
