Yipes!

S&P futures still up over 5, almost 6, & overnight Europe is pretty much up across the board. Well, for one reason or another, no one seems concerned. (yet)

Here's a good one re: iVillage:

It takes an iVillage to raise millions

iVillage's recent IPO came out white hot, but
serious questions lurk just below the surface

By Christopher Byron
MSNBC CONTRIBUTOR

March 24 — Anyone who thinks that Internet investing is based on more than herd instinct behavior ought to take a look at last week's Goldman, Sachs & Co.-underwritten IPO for iVillage Inc., the “women's online network” business.

msnbc.com

"In 1996 the average gain between the offering price of an Internet IPO and its first trade in the after-market was 49 percent. By 1998 the average gain had grown to 117 percent. Thus far in 1999 the gain has widened to 199 percent. And with iVillage - the latest and easily one of the weakest offerings yet in the sector - the gain between offering price and first trade in the after-market stands at 300 percent.

How much longer will this go on? The answer seems obvious: Until investors once again focus on the quality of a company's management and the true appeal of its products — at which time this is one merry-go-round that will instantly stop spinning."

Drudge's stuff is nuts. Russia can't feed or pay its own soldiers, and they can't function without western economic aid.

Do you really think Russia will wreck its future and risk US military action for the sake of Milosevic?

This is what happens when commentators who don't know jack about the Balkans paint themselves as instant experts.

This is crap.
