Think comments like these by IBM's Gerstner have had much to do with the disk drive malaise the last few days?

Actually, IBM is the company selling the tiny 240MB drive that could be easily designed into cameras, Palm Pilots, etc. In addition, IBM (among others) benefits from the back office transaction servers to supply data to these new devices. On net, I (hope to) see them as a net benefit to IBM's businesses.
