besides selling machines, the income for these companies is mainly the royalties they will collect from ophthalmologists for each procedure which is performed on the machine. David A.Therkenseln of Dain Rauscher Wessels does a study on laser vision corrective surgery. His estimates for the number of US laser vision correction procedure in 1999 is 655,000 and 845,000 for 2000.
