Test Drive Net2Phone results: 1. Downloaded Net2Phone via Netscape to a 300 P class machine with 64 RAM and a 56 k modem. Called Customer service, gave her a credit card for 50.00 and was set up to call within about 15 minutes (from download to installation to contact to authorization to call). Had no problem dialing Chicago to New York, Chicago California, and Chicago to Florida. Each time spoke with friends and asked their opinion about quality. All were amazed that we were talking over the net (told them all to buy IDTC!). Voice quality was excellent, but due to packet dropping, a little choppy, but by comparison, better than when you are on a digital cell phone and you are losing bits of the conversation. At no time was the quality bad enough so as to prevent a conversation. If you understand the technology, you will understand that this aspect will improve dramatically over the next year or so. 2. Same procedure with a 500 P class machine with a T1. The quality was a little better, but the packet dropping was the same. For those of you who have not tested it, try it out, it only takes a few minutes, its easy to install and run, and then you can see for yourself. There are too many people offering opinions about this product who don't have a clue about the technology, nor have they tried it out.
