A good example - my direct order entry broker is hopeless today. Technical problems up the kazoo. First we couldn't even log on. Then we didn't have LII. Then you'd get logged off. Then the index quotes died. Now the index quotes don't show the field for how much up/down. This is a broker with a good reputation. Very high commissions. My trading was seriously affected because I didn't have LII for 30 minutes at the open, then technical problems and index quotes fiasco. I have made about 1/6 of what I should have on a great trading day like today. Meanwhile - Datek is working great for me. I've made money today thanks to Datek - no thanks to my fancy direct order entry broker. All at $9.99. Just a small example - the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. There will be days when Datek will have problems. But overall - I'm sticking with Datek.
