Ligtenberg holds a master's degree in engineering from the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, and he has a doctorate in computer science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Lausanne. Ligtenberg joins Ayyar and Ravi Narayanan on Karna's board of directors. Ayyar serves as chairman of the board and is a proven founder, leader and builder of high-technology companies. In early 1996, Ayyar formed Interweave Software, creator of a Web-based decision support product. That company was sold to Cognos Software (Nasdaq: COGNF) in 1997 for $16 million. In 1989 he founded Renaissance Software as a developer of an enterprise software product for large financial institutions. Renaissance was sold to Sungard Data Systems (NYSE: SDS) in late 1995 for $50 million. He began his career in finance at Salomon Brothers in 1985, and he became one of the firm's youngest vice presidents in 1988.
