I haven't been following CLB lately (love the reservoir mgt technology, which should be a gold mine in almost any price environment). I just glanced at the earnings report this morning and it looked ok to me (I have to be honest in that I don't know what the brokers were estimating). Was there anything there that justified the blow off on high volume today?

Hard to sneak a bone (CLB) past a good Dog....<VBG>.

I got in late today and saw the CLB blow off on 1 million shares - checked the news and nabbed some... May take a quick trade; and will average down as well; but some shares will go to the longterm hold drawer. CLB is a top tier niche player - nothing's changed there - and they (like VTS) have been an aggressive acquirer of late. It will pay off in spades as activity picks up.

DVN a mid cap E&P and mentioned by a few CNBC fund managers/ analysts of late; also a Barrons article pick, is selling off a bit today - solid longterm, conservative E&P play - very low debt and should see $35 from its sub $25 today - a solid buy on any dips from here !
