Scumbria:

Re: I seem to be having some trouble interpreting this graph. quote.yahoo.com. Could you help me understand what the price of INTC was in August, 1997?

Looks like your math skills are really bad today, Scumbria. First of all, 2 years ago is March 1997, not August (that would be 19 months ago). Secondly, your yahoo quote server doesn't show Intel closing, or even peaking, at $102 in August 1997 (http://chart.yahoo.com/t?a=08&b=01&c=97&d=08&e=31&f=97&g=d&s=intc&y=0&z=intc). If you're going to post facts here, you better make sure they're right. Your opinions, of course, can continue to be wrong. ;-)

Two years ago today, the stock closed at $133.25 per share

of course there has been a stock split since then.

Split adjusted that's a close at $66.63 per share

In two years that would have been a return of about 33% per year.

Hey, that beats the S&P500 index. [27.5% annual return over same time period]

Was somebody complaining?

<Could you help me understand what the price of INTC was in August, 1997?>

As usual, you are pulling a Clinton:

1) Intel hit $102 just over a year and a half ago, not two years like you claim.

2) That $102 figure is a convenient "maximum" point which you choose in order to make your argument seem more convincing. In truth, In truth, Intel bounced between $90 and $100 for about three months before falling between $70 and $90 for the next twelve months. Now it seems that $110 is a good bottom.

Ever consider a career in politics? You'd make a great New York senator.

scum bria - re: "Could you help me understand what the price of INTC was in August, 1997?"

Two years ago was MARCH 1997.

March 1997 is NOT AUGUST 1997.

August 1997 was about 1 1/2 years ago.

Please teel us what AMD was selling for two years ago.
