I thought savvy had two v's. Anyway, you do have a point about Bernard making himself - and thereby LOR - a target. However, I'm more pissed at the Republicans for taking advantage of it and hurting innocent bystanders.

There is only one reason to give political donations. In this case it was to influence Clinton to move authority from the State Department to the Commerce Department to speed up the process and to give more flexibility. It worked . BS was looking out for the company and shareholders-not just expressing his political freedom. It just so happened the " Get Clinton " group found a way and got BS at the same time.

bikepath; I dont mind that he gives money. I just think that such a savy businessman should have known better than to wave a red flag in front of the Republicans by being the single largest Democratic contributor. Maybe he belives in the ideals of democracy and doesn't let the threat you describe inhibit his pursuing those ideals. You're saying he should be politically correct and not give to the democrats. Well, I say, down with political correctness, it goes against one of the central tenants of this country. That the republicans cannot stand and will not tolerate opposing views is their problem. Everyone who submits to this political correctness just lets them get away with it more.
