NEW YORK, March 29 Asia Pulse - Fujitsu Limited announced global availability of its INTERSTAGE enterprise application middleware, a suite of inter-working software products that provide enterprises with a flexible distributed object environment incorporating the latest network computing technology.
Introduced in Japan in April 1998, INTERSTAGE has been well received as an optimal new object-distributed environment for the Internet age.
Beginning today, INTERSTAGE will be marketed through local Fujitsu subsidiaries and affiliates worldwide (see customer contacts below for details).
Information systems must support continuous change in the business environment by allowing companies to rapidly restructure existing applications and streamline the business process to create and capitalize on new opportunities.

Incorporating network computing international standard technology for the application server environment, INTERSTAGE provides a broad range of application server infrastructure services and features, such as:
- A distributed object environment based on the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) standard;
- Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) componentware enabling a transaction environment within the network computing environment;
- A distributed object server system that can be linked with a WWW browser by using the InfoObjects an interface between WWW and CORBA objects; and
- EJB technology support that makes it easy for developers to create, deploy and manage cross-platform, component-based server applications.
Other options and related services include: - An interface to connect Jasmine(*), the first true object-oriented database management system, and CORBA; and
- A "wrapping" process that allows utilization of existing legacy protocols.
