Oops , is IBM leaving the PC business too soon ?

Just in from a study on PC pricing:

" PC makers are leaving money on the table," said Bill Ablondi,
founder of MarketMaps and author of the study. "

The article reads:

Many consumers would pay
more for PCs

A new study says computer makers may be pricing some
systems more cheaply than they need to, while others
seem to be more successful at drawing in buyers at
higher prices.

Most consumers paid less than they had planned to spend for
PCs in the holiday buying season, according to a survey of
households by MarketMaps, a research and consulting firm
based in New Canaan, Connecticut.

This report comes as PC makers are scrambling to adjust their
business strategies as revenues shrink in the face of ever
cheaper PCs. Major PC makers have recently warned of lower
than expected revenues and many are looking to new markets
to beef up the bottom line. IBM has gone as far as saying the
"PC is dead.

Seems the astute researcher didn't mention AAPL and its hot selling iMAC for $1,300 plus options .

Might be just as well as he would have to credit IBM (PowerPC) for being inside AAPL's iMAC .

Then he would probably find out IBM makes more building AAPL's Powerbook(s) than AAPL earns selling them
.

I guess when you swim with sharks its best not to complain about meager meals :>) .
