Mani - If that is so the fundamental weakness of their strategy is exposed. It seems to me that, if you are correct in your assumptions, AMD is saying "I am willing to lose even more money in an attempt to take market leadership from a colossus with great earnings every quarter, better process control and manufacturing smarts and VERY deep pockets. My goal is to find a price for chips so low that my competitor cannot bear to lower his price to that level, while I continue to self destruct at that price." If you are correct, can anyone at AMD spell risk? Catastrophic risk? You bet your company risk.

My guess is that AMD will have to sell out to someone to continue the fight. In that respect, the stock might, just might, be a good buy because there will probably be a premium over the public price. My anticipated time for the buyout is about next November. I'd watch for negative articles about the AMD board and Jerry, and a stock price below 12 as a signal that the end is near. Any announced delays in the K-7 would probably accelerate the negotiations. Just a wag on my part. But I've been wrong before.

Mani - "They can sell all they can make."

What difference does that make, if they can't sell them profitably? Intel can sell all that they make also, and make $2B a quarter.
