Now Qualcomm can focus on its more profitable chips, which other manufacturers use in their
phones and equipment. Ericsson said it will use Qualcomm's chips for its current line if CDMA
network equipment and is considering buying more for future products, as well as phones.

CEO Jacobs denied speculation that Qualcomm is looking to exit the phone business as well.
''That business continues to grow and do well, and so we keep moving ahead,'' he said in an
interview.
