BEAM...VISX...

Do you recall that when VISX submitted to FDA for clinical clearance
...and this proposals ended at BEAM headquarter ?

Do you recall that both VISX and BEAM has to dissolve the organization that both VISX and BEAM setup to further the research in
vision, because the fed thought that they violated the anti trust law.
VISX and BEAM collected the royalties and splitted the shares thru
a formula based on the market captures

Do you recall that both were at once time exported their machines/equipments to europe - because in this part of the world they
can have the procedures performed while waiting for FDA approvals...
then due to the demand in USA, they re-imported and refurbished them to USA.... These are a few infos I just got out of the vertical files
at an investment bank... If you look at the stock price charts back to
Jan 1996:

Beam was a leading company in the field then it lost too much on the
side business: lens ... and the picture reverses... in the last three
months with VISX leading the field. This is a momentum stock for a
intermediate hold because VISX has the institutions committed to it.
