From CBS:

Timing is everything

"We saw a pullback in the past few days and I think small investors and even the institutions are picking up the brand name guys," said Lloyd Kinnear, who co-manages a $25 million high-tech/Internet fund at Rosecrest Investments.

"Besides the bullish call -- whether it's warranted or not -- the timing was perfect," said David Eigen of ProspectStreet Ventures, a New York City venture capital firm. "Every time the market takes one or two steps back - people view this as a major buying opportunity."

"All the milk without buying the cow"

AOL and online auctioneer EBay announced a broadened strategic partnership in a four-year marketing pact. Under the deal, EBay gets distribution while AOL adds another feature to its stable of services.

EBay will pay AOL $75 million as well as all the advertising revenues from the co-branded sites. "AOL gets all the milk without having to buy the cow" with this deal said PaineWebber Internet analyst, James Preissler. This increases AOL's loyalty by keeping "auctions internal" and takes the killer application of auctions out of the hands of another big player.
