Actually, I was in the stock back then, and I bailed not because of the shorters, but because I thought it had run too hard too fast. Didn't feel good to sit on the sidelines while it ran a lot more :-) Got back in recently, and it's one thing to have small-time shorters, who are actually good for the stock price, and these pros with hugely deep pockets. They are well above the companies, the SEC, and just about anything else. JMHO.
