Isaiah 57

15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
16 For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made.

20 But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
21 There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

I can be grateful for the times when I have felt God's hand pressing me into the dust for my arrogance or disobedience. His chastening enables us to return to the shelter of His wing for He chastens in love as any good parent does with their child.

But have you known real wickedness? Have you seen such evil that thrives on discord and hurt and never seems satisfied unless it is using others or shedding blood? What peace do they have?
Their end is always before them and as God's word says they have no peace. Their enemies are of their own making on both sides of the law. Even the mirror they look in reflects back disdain for themselves and they never find rest.

The first word of Jesus in His ministry resounds clearly... "Repent"

"For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out." Proverbs 24:20
