Mobistar Shares Up 5.1% At EUR57.80

Dow Jones Newswires

BRUSSELS -- Shares in Belgian mobile phone company Mobistar SA (B.MSR) are sharply
higher in midday trading Friday following rumors that Finnish phone maker Nokia Corp. (NOKA)
is planning acquisitions of European phone and Internet companies.

At 1105 GMT the stock was up 7.8%, or EUR4.30, at EUR59.30.

"A story in Business Week claims Nokia is looking to buy European telecom and Internet players,"
said a trader at Generale Bank, a Brussels brokerage. "This is driving the shares up."

A Nokia spokeswoman said the story is accurate, but she added that Nokia already had
announced in December that it was interested in acquiring European telecom companies.

The trader also pointed out that Mobistar shares have suffered most of this week, together with
telecom stocks in the U.S.

"There is a degree of technical recovery in this rise, too," she said.
