Marty,

Strategic alliances, whether they be technical or manufacturing, have been the subject of discussion, in both the HDD investment and business circles when the idea of the industry consolidation (I think still inevitable in parts of the industry) through acquisitions (often discussed on these threads) didn't make sense.

The strategic alliance examples set by WDC/IBM, KMAG/WDC, IBM/DELL and now IBM/EMC, IMO make sense (whether all will work is another subject) and I believe we'll see more such alliances. I expect to see more from IBM (they are on record stating more are coming), and for SEG and QNTM to initiate there own versions, in part, to counter the offensives initiated by IBM.

Hard to comment on what I think is a new dynamic in two paragraphs.

Regards,
LT
