ABX moves with the price of bullion. It is almost immaterial what the company is doing as long as they keep the doors open. This isn't the case with juniors. Don't get me wrong. I'm not criticizing ABX. When you become large, it is difficult to enhance the company value by incremental efforts. However, the increments maintain the company size and therefore the stability.

It is impractical to play gold any other way. As an old gold coin buyer let me tell you, buying coins, bullion, numismatic entities, is a shell game. Bid 100, ask 1000. The commodity markets induce you to make every wrong move. Get in the pit and you have no judgement.

The nature of the developing gold bull market will be that it will fall all the way up and therefore trading it will be exceedingly difficult. To really benefit you will have to buy good gold companies and hold. What is good? Reasonable debt or none and low cost to produce. Every other criterion is fine-tuning and will only induce you to see the circumstances as negative.
