..."This is a great way to seed the market," says Mary Wardley, analyst with International Data Corporation. But what it means for the struggling office suite maker in the long term is still fuzzy, say analysts.

Under the terms of the agreement English versions of Corel WordPerfect Suite 8 will be included on a jointly labeled CD shipped with computers built with PC Chips motherboards. New computer owners will also be provided the opportunity to obtain WordPerfect in a dozen other languages for a "nominal" fee.

The bundle will also include an "attractive" upgrade offer from WordPerfect to WordPerfect Office 2000, says Catherine Hughes, Corel spokesperson...

"The hope is that a large percentage of the people that get the product will buy the upgrade, which is WordPerfect Office 2000," Enderle said.
