Archie/David, That bid/ask volume actually means there are more buyers (people trying to buy at the bid price) than there are sellers (people trying to sell at the ask). Imbalances like that typically preclude a move up on the bid and ask to balance the buy and sell volume. Any time it is stacked on the bid, it is a positive sign, conversely if you see a big volume stacked on the ask, then a lot of folks are trying to sell, and the price will drop accordingly.
