Excellent Post, Mika.
My thoughts: There is absolutely NO PROBLEM with Ericsson getting
a group of very good Edge Switch Products from a company like
FORE.
But of course, as you pointed out, an overall network must have
some Very Good Core Network switches as well.
It looks like that Ericsson is very aware of this.

I believe that somewhere in "there", there is a need for some very
fast, specialized hardware to convert "packets" to ATM "cells",
and visa versa.
I have read some very interesting White Papers on that subject.

I also hope that Ericsson will not get involved with products
in the area "beyond the Edge".
Items such as Lan Hubs are "a dime a dozen". (That is too cheap
and easy to make)

Finally,
I have resigned myself to the fact that you have to very quickly
move along with the "Street Dummies" in order to earn the funds
needed to invest in the things you really believe in.

I believe in the old axiom, "don't get mad, just get even".
Best way to get "even", is to make money off of the people, or things,
that you dislike.

Best,
Mardy

"This little moan about these analysts, in general, is not to say they
have undervalued Ericy (although I think they have by a long way), but a
more general "they know nothing about anything" and therefore I am
thinking of changing my profession (Just check out their dumb questions
yesterday and if they got any real answers?)" Mika Kukkanen

You and Tero are two of the most knowledgeable and thus valuble contributors to this board. Would you mind telling us what your profession is before you change it and if you work for Ericsson?
