I haven't seen a firm date yet, but it's clear that it's getting very close. There is, for instance, a "Deployment Conference" March 29-30. There's also a traveling road-show for developers going on now:

A news story last week said that the final technical beta of Office had been sent out. What that indicates is that they're close to releasing if you define "release" as "release to manufacturing" which puts it into the sometimes lengthy post-development process that eventually gets it on the store shelves. But if you define "release" as that day it appears on shelves, that would still be about two months off, depending as much as anything on magazine publishing schedules and stores.

They sometimes time these things for big shows, so it's possible that they'd aim for a big announcement at the spring Comdex show April 19-22, except that that show focuses on IT issues. It looks like Windows2000 will get the focus there [in other words: Teflon, you were right. I was wrong].
