The thinking process between the two is very similar. I focus more on win bets because the house take is smaller. Generally, I narrow the field to contenders, rank them by probability of winning and have some sort of range for what that probability is based on the number of contenders vs non contenders and my view of their ability, chances of firing on that day etc... If anyone appears to be a value (with some margin of safety) I am in. If two appear to be a value, I bet both and play an exotic combining the two.
