Sue,

Contact StockHawk here on SI. He's been looking into how to play the IPO quiet periods. He might be able to help. Or, maybe just scanning his posts will help.

Good luck.

Underwriting analysts must wait 26 days after an IPO before initiating coverage

Wether they will initiate coverage after 26 days, or 27 days or 30 days or whatever is up to the underwriters.

Susan,
I have a good post outlining this quiet period theory. I will locate tonight and post a link. I experimented with GBL recently and it appears to be effective.

I would take the position that the lead underwriter is the one that everyone is looking to for the strong upgrade. This does not always happen. Analyists might be gone or other factors delay any upgrade report for 1/2 weeks. This will cause stock to drift lower as the impatient sellers get out. If report is "accumulate" or "long term buy" or some other milder endorsement stock will sell off fairly quick, IMO.

I would prefer to play after I see what the report says. Sorry it took so long to get back to you.
