Kenneth, that's a very plausible suggestion and it was what I was thinking when I wrote that they might be experimenting with elasticity (I may have said that on another thread).

If so, I find that very, very interesting.

To all:
I got my DELL card in the mail yesterday and read the small print. The DELL dollars is virtually no big deal for someone like me who only buys a computer now and then. The dollars are only good for three years and only for a Dell system. Not for the case (which is what I wanted to use it for) or anything else.
Oh well.

The interest rate is good though, only 9.99% as long as there are no late payments. Thats how I lost my 9.99% on my Yahoo card, a late payment. They raised it to 25%. I wrote that that was ridiculous since my other cards are only 14% so I paid it off and wont use it until they lower the rate. But I'll be very careful this time so I can keep that nice low rate.

<<Maybe Dell is experimenting with different prices on the same system at different times of day or via different routes of access to determine the effect on demand and maximize the revenue/net margin tradeoff.>>

Ken: That makes A LOT of sense to me. I have heard Michael Dell say that DELL continually seeks to optimize the process of manufacturing, marketing, selling and servicing hardware products. They DO NOT take their success for granted and clearly are committed to CONSTANT AND NEVER ENDING IMPROVEMENT.

Regards,

Scott
