From the 10k:

<<<<<Volatility of Stock Price

The trading price of Ampex's Common Stock has been and can be expected to be subject to significant volatility, reflecting a variety of factors, including:

o quarterly fluctuations in operating results;
o announcements of new product introductions by Ampex or its competitors;
o reports and predictions concerning the Company by analysts and other members of the media;
o issuances of substantial amounts of Common Stock in order to redeem outstanding shares of its Preferred Stock; and
o general economic or market conditions.

The stock market in general, and Internet companies in particular, have experienced a high degree of price volatility, which has had a substantial effect on the market prices of many such companies for reasons that often are unrelated or disproportionate to operating performance. These broad market and industry fluctuations may adversely affect the price of Ampex's Common Stock, regardless of its operating performance.>>>>>

volatility: the state of being volatile

volatile: flying or having the power to fly ~ characterized by rapid change.

we could only be so lucky.

Cheers,
digger

I don't think either TVontheWeb or Aentv are mature enough at this point to IPOut at any great profit. Think about the value the 20%s have been given in the market. There needs to be a grand picture that is so outrageously ambitious that it can only succeed. To that end, using the two companies to demonstrate a model startup structure that ambitious producers with a million or so (they invested early in AOL)can see how to copy and fashion into their own voice (using the AXC Network studio setup franchise), would make them both valuable now (but only to AXC) and give them time to mature for their IPOdebut. This in turn makes the new, visionary AXC the place to invest to gain a piece of that grand future.

I can see a few yards further down, this whole studio unit being contained in a box the size of a desktop computer that anyone can own.
