AOL's New Business

Rappaport believes that AOL realizes that the business-to-business e-commerce and services opportunities will outshine the business-to-consumer market.

...

The two areas AOL will want to develop further in the business-to-business market are knowledge management (showing businesses how to get to information faster) and transactive services (being the go-between for businesses and their suppliers and customers--like Ariba Technologies and Commerce One Inc.).

"Of course, you have to have a portal to get to such services, and that's where AOL will leverage its opportunity with NetCenter," Rappaport says.
