I've been thinking of entertainment/media/networks, too; and they are certainly moving into the picture! Miningco.com sure would be a nice acquisition for many of them. Been watching CMCSK, FOX, CBS and INF to jump in. But now that's been put on hold because sprung for Miningco.com debut. I have shares in CPQ (Alta Vista purchase) and USAI (Lycos accepted their controversial low-ball offer and shareholders don't like it) and those are moving right along towards a big web presence. CBS owns part of INF, (INF is the one Howard Stern is involved in and he often mentions internet and also Infinity Broadcasting) and the placement of advertising on their local NY station (92.3 K-ROCK) is noticeable in it's good timing and imaginative nature. Stern must be either punching in 100 hour weeks (show me that kind of money and so would I) or he has voiceover clones... as I have heard him in other parts of the country saying his words for local ads. Anyway, speaking of CBS, (I also hold some GE shares so that's why I've been noticing to circle the wagons on this), just had to laugh when CBS made GE an offer for NBC which was laughingly refused (Welchism "No, NBC has earnings and that could be a shock to CBS") but pondering if CBS is sitting on enough money/credit to try for that, well now that new CEO might say "Why not buy internets instead" with a hole burning in pocket, next logical move). With that popular new CEO of CBS looking like a go-getter, and the share price moved up a bit and is now at 52 week high, well it looks to me like something exciting might happen soon. INF is just $4 off it's high. If I held some CBS I'd probably be thinking of selling some but not all of it, especially if it were the first opportunity to get some money out at the high. Neither stocks are in the very expensive range, and thinking of possibility of internet action soon to come with both of them. But MINE action is happening right now, and it's great to be here in the front row!
Have a great weekend,
Joana
