A nice piece of work, but probably not commercially viable. Lots of copper to get rid of (expensive -- copper is not an environmentally benign metal), and top that off with a bunch of (toxic!) trialkyltin waste. An extremely expensive method of preparation. The FDA also does not like processes that use tin, particularly near the end of the synthesis, where contamination is a real concern.

This patent is unlikely to have any bearing on anyone who actually wants to make these compounds for commercial use.
