There was a difference between Reuter's and AP's version of the Hindery comments. The AP ones came in after the close and were more detailed and revealing.

You should consider that I have a better bead on ATHM than does Hindery. I know you can't believe that because I'm talking to you. Someone that's important doesn't talk to menials. Otherwise, what would be the point of becoming important?

Long ago I trashed him and Malone for neglecting the build-out for debt paydown and digital tv. Hindery many months later came out and admitted that their's was a major mistake. Hindery claimed he couldn't see the importance of the net. I was infuriated at that comment. Livid. When I made my criticism it was Hindery's decision to play down broadband. At the time I couldn't believe such narrow mindedness. You can ask Hiram Walker about it or you can check the thread, because he was in total agreement.

Consider that it isn't being considered. Comcast can't wait. They have to go ahead. They can't afford to run two options like I had suggested in my consumer choice speculation and to which no one responded. ATHM is T-TCI's bag. RR is Comcast's bag. I suspect you realize that this is very significant but what is inexplicable is Wall Street's indifference to that significance.

The market is supposed to be ahead of these things, but you are starting to see that the market often is undecided. The players are waiting for the official word, then they'll do what needs to be done. In a new issue which has little earnings and is priced on speculation, the risk is enormous. You will have to learn about the true nature of Wall Street by having it done to you. No lesson has been given in a decade, in two.

Well, how about the return? Where there is big risk, there should be big return. In the long run ATHM should do just fine. Without a doubt they should always be the major force in broadband because they were the pioneers and because they put in so much tapas in starting out against a hopeless situation. The efforts are starting to bear fruit.

I have advised most of the people on this thread that they should hold for the long term. They are taking my advice by not reading this thread. I advised them to forget about the stock. It's heirloom. What we have on this thread now is traders and speculators who always lose anyway sooner or later. The way to hold is to ignore and don't read and don't do any homework. You do that before taking a position. If you haven't taken a position I guess you could say I'm suggesting to wait patiently. You won't miss anything because there's always something better to buy (perhaps, e.g., consider Comcast). That's the one thing in this business I can assure you is true.
