Sun has their own (non-fabric) S-Bus adapter that is 1Gps. It is sold in every Sun FC sale and attached to a pair of VIXEL hubs in every configuration (in fact they are Vixel's largest customer)

The chip that they use was designed by Dave Banks, who is the lead developer at Brocade.

The reason that people use the JNI card is that it has fabric, and can therefore beused with a switch. It is the ONLY alternative to Sun for an S-Bus adapter that works.

Sun is transitioning their servers to PCI.
