Miscellaneous from Investors Business Daily: Best performing IPO of '99- Vertical Net. "About 30 stocks have posted triple-digit percentage gains from their IPO price, all but two of them involved in connecting users to or doing business on the Web." Several dozen more deals have been announced in the last few weeks. Average gain for internet IPOs 197%, for non internet offerings +12%. A rated Alger Capital Appreciation fund has about 16% in internets. IBD: " You don't fear, as some do, that internet stocks are inflated balloons that can burst at any moment?" David Alger: "Some of them are balloons, but some of them are amazing stocks. The rapidity at which people, both business people and lay people, are finding new uses for the Internet is startling." [end IBD summary] There is a shortage of internet IPOs right now, but Wall Street is quick to fill a vacuum, and supply will be plentiful which will result in less appreciation in coming months for the "me too" stocks. Probably by summer, the big appreciation in IPOs will be reserved for those internet offerings that really stand out. It might be wise for ICG to come public sooner rather than later, even though I'm sure it will be one of the standouts. Mike

FWIW eanringswhispers.com shows SFE concensus at .14 this qtr and whisper # at -.05. Hard to imagine not beating both since TLAB is making a run. Of course CATP may also defray that significantly. My only hope is that SFE already sold some shares of it. Also, if they want to partake in some "window dressing" all they need to do is sell CATP even at 11-12. They would show a big gain and would also show they are mitigating their exposure to it.
