<OT> In the Presidential Race, Hopefuls Split Over Attacks nytimes.com

Invasion? I hope not. I must withhold any personal comment here, lest we get a return visit from denizens of the political cesspool. From this article, I'll just point out a comment from a guy I sort of like, John McCain:

McCain said he backed the bombing "because of the ethnic cleansing and the threat of it spreading through the region." But, he said, Clinton's earlier failure to follow through on threats against President Slobodan Milosevic of Yugoslavia led to an "enormous erosion of our credibility, not only in the region but throughout the world." McCain added, "You don't make threats unless you are willing and capable of carrying them out."

The situation is a mess. But Bosnia was a mess for years before we did anything about it, under both Republican and Democratic administrations, and it stabilized somewhat after a show of force. This situation is even murkier, I don't know what could or should be done.

Cheers, Dan, in a pro forma way.
