Actually, I would reverse that statement.

"Only by sheer luck did 2 or 3 MIG fighters manage to penetrate so far into Bosnia before being shot down. Especially lucky seem to be the pilots who may have managed to eject in time".

They only made it 5 miles inside the border, after all.
