Jozef, I don't believe you can have ADSL service without an ADSL ISP. Otherwise you'd have a high-speed connection to nowhere.

Although you can get an ADSL line from your local phone company and select your own ISP, these services are usually bundled with unlimited 'Net access, free email, and sometimes a few MB for a web site. But terms do vary widely. If you aren't sure what you are getting, it's time to make a few calls.

I had ADSL service a couple years back but eventually dropped it when the phone company decided that $150/month was the going rate. Today, others in my neighborhood have similar access for $60 a month but the phone company has decided that my wires are inadequate -- and they can't get it through their heads that if it worked before, it will work now. Moral: never trust the phone company.
