Well, it was. Seems that as R. Writer it was sold in 1989 and changed its name to Austin Stone. Both R. Writer and Austin Stone did business in Colorado. Then, apparently, Austin Stone went out of business in 1991, or else changed its incorporation to another state.

I assume the former, as a search for Austin Stone at the NASD site turns up nothing. One of the most annoying things about that site is that they make it impossible for one to find information about defunct firms or banned brokers (unless the broker in question has been licensed subsequent to 1995).
