Siemans/COMS joint venture news...here's a portion, full text address given below: Within the next few weeks, Siemens will launch a joint venture with 3Com Corp. to market voice-data equipment to the enterprise market. This joint venture was first announced in December, but the two companies are now putting a commercial structure around the joint enterprise, giving it a name and its own corporate management. The new entity will report to and be funded by Unisphere Solutions Inc., the Siemens subsidiary announced three weeks ago. "This new venture will be focused on convergence opportunities in the enterprise space, but the exact shape of the joint venture has not yet been completely determined," says Ed Buchner, director of marketing programs at Siemens ICN. "Whatever products come out of this joint venture will be sold by 3Com through its channel and by Siemens through its channels. The last thing we want to do is ignore the channel.
