Jim, thank you for your kind reply. I read all your posts with great attention although I don't understand everything you say. In the past I was not a member so I could not ask.

Some questions that come to mind are volume pricing for Compaq is different from volume pricing for Dell because of their inventory/ordering models. How does that affect Dell's cost of goods and potential for cost improvement. Dell's costs are a moving target and it would seem to me that it would be hard to compare with a more static buyer like Compaq. (is my question clear?)

What do you know about the continuous flow manufacturing process that Dell is moving to? How much will it contribute to lowering Dell's cost? Are all products to be made using this newer process? When should we expect that Dell has fully deployed this process?

How are royalty payments made such as Dell's to IBM, and if they stop where does it show up in Dell's reports?
