JF - The heavily referenced image compression patent is 5107345, but I was wrong when I said I thought it dealt with interframe compression as well. That was a later and less cited patent: 5576767.

Note that by no means whatsoever am I claiming that Qualcomm has an outstanding patent position or experience in this area. I am only claiming that it certainly isn't shabby and it may indeed be outstanding, but that is hard to tell at this point.
