Here's the poop on last night's "Specs:"
(from bluesnews.com )
==========================
Okay, let me clear this up for you. These specs were printed in a sidebar to Michael Flemming's Voodoo 3 piece that appears in the
Spring issue of Voodoo (on sale now at finer newsstands near you). Michael basically thunked up what he thought would be the most
likely progression for 3dfx's next level of technology. Several times in his sidebar, Michael included disclaimers like, "I will have to resort
to a mixture of conjecture and deduction..." and "Please bear in mind that all of this is conjecture and does not represent any kind of
official statement or release from 3dfx Interactive."

3dfx is hard at work on the imminent release of Voodoo 3 and certainly doesn't need any (more) headaches caused by me. Can you
please whack something up on the site that indicates that these specs were nothing more than blue-sky ideals by one of Voodoo's
freelancers? Before Greg Ballard or Michael Howse find out and put a hit out on me? Feel free to quote this email in part or in full.
Thanks, man.
========================

Anyone else remember Michael Flemming (AKA Got2MuchTime)?
The really funny part is I was trying to email him last night to see what he thought of the rumor!

I agree with Pat that 3dfx needs to learn from this episode the value of PLAYING THE GAME and not letting nVidia claim the high ground unopposed. To be clear, I'm not talking about generating bogus rumors or rumors that would kill V3 sales, BUT THERE IS A MIDDLE GROUND and controlled "scoops" to the various hardware websites would:
a.) Keep nVidia off-balance
b.) Keep enthusiasm for 3dfx high
c.) Keep the faithful in line

To me, that's more valuable than any TV ad.

3dfx commercial sighting!

actually, i just talked to a friend who saw the 3dfx commercial (the first one) on fox the past monday during ally mcbeal.

watched the game today, didn't see the commercial (though i got up a couple of times to get food, etc., etc.)

i wonder if they'll start hitting SNL/Mad TV or even late afternoon cartoons... typically times filled with adolescent ( i'm not refering to age here =) ) males...
