The loss of the a/c should have no effect. It was probably a mechanical failure that caused the plane to come down or a completely lucky hit. On rare occasions big sky little bullet doesn't work.
The pilot was recovered safely

Now that we have him back I'm surprised that we are not bombing the hell out of the location with incindiaries where the plane crashed. The components and composites that comprise the skin need to be kept away from enemies like IRAQ and the CIS.
